Embassy of India, Beirut celebrated 78th Independence Day on 15th August, 2024 in the Embassy premises with full of patriotism and enthusiasm. To mark this auspicious occasion, other activities related to the Independence Day celebrations also took place in the Embassy of India, Beirut.
H.E. Ambassador Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh started the event by offering floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi – Father of the Nation and then hoisted the Indian National Flag. Thereafter, Ambassador read out the Address to the Nation by Hon’ble President of India Mrs. Droupadi Murmu. In his address, he also requested all Indian Diaspora members to remain vigilant and in touch with the Embassy due to the recent developments in the region. Patriotic songs were sung by Officials of the Indian Embassy, Gopal Prasad, Deepesh Hoskere and a poem recitation by Samir Khawas. The ceremony was attended by more than 180 Indian community members, members of the Indian Battalion, Lebanese friends of India and Embassy staff members. The event was concluded by serving of light refreshments to the gathering.
Ek Ped Maa ke Naam campaign: H.E. Ambassador Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh also planted a cherry sapling in the Embassy premises to mark the the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the name of mother).
